i too have just recently lost my baby cali too. the guy i bought her from suggested that instead of using a pinkie (of which i went through 2 f/t, one live, and one f/t brained w/no success) to use a lizard, since in the wild this is a bigger part of their diet than rodents. also, cali kings are notoriously cannibalistic, and will go after another herp in their percieved territory (which is the house when they escape). i purchased a young long-tailed lizard to bait a trap, but you have to use the string method for this. i am trying this tonight, along with supplying a warm spot, and will hopefully have luck. other than that, i have tried every trick out there to get my baby girl back, but to no avail. maybe this will work, so you can give it a try. i suggest getting a lizard that is also within the same range as the cali king, such as the long-tail, just to tap into the snake's instincts a bit. good luck to ya!
