Too cool. You know they never tell you to look for a lost snake outside. We had a hatchling Cali King escape the feed box the night before Easter. In my basement, so of course we did some spring cleaning to no avail. Just like you, I figured she'd turn up or we'd, well, smell her. So here we are nearly a month and a half later. One of my sons was outside playing, and this little snake rears up out of the grass and tries to bite him (he had come really close to stepping on her). His little brother ran in the house to tell his mother that they found a California Kingsnake in our back yard. Cool! They know how to ID a Cali! Anyhow, my skepticle wife heads out thinking its a Gopher or Garter- no Calis in N. Utah. But there she is, heading for the neighbor's large garden. No joke, 5 minutes later and she would have been gone for good. So the little thing (16") somehow made it up the stairs and out the door. Awesome!
