The sliding screen lids with locks (aka critter cages)are not recommended for very small snakes because they are able to squeeze out of them--the lid edge is just pliable enough. Until your baby is bigger, you might think about investing in a metal screen top. It can be placed right over the screen lid and bent with a pair of pliars to be a tight fit. Plus, if you happen to have cats, those sliding screen lids can collapse if one of them decides to lounge on it.
I'm happy for you that you found your baby. My adult male amel corn was missing for a week--it's so hard not knowing where they are because you envision worst case scenarios.
