stupidity is the lack of being ABLE to understand no matter how many times one is taught. There's a difference. The refusal to acknowledge reality is ignorance, not stupidity. When someone is given information and chooses to do nothing with it, they are ignorant, when someone is not able to comprehend that information they show stupidity. If someone is never given information, they are neither stupid nor ignorant.
We see it in different lights, you have your opinions and I have mine, even if my definitions are wrong by Webster's. I guess that makes me ignorant.

:Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, so yes a child is ignorant because he does not know. Not his fault, and not a bad thing, it simply is.
:Stupidity is a lack of understanding or a refusal to acknowledge reality.
