baby veiled eats dirt?

I got a baby veiled (male) about 3 months ago. He is a very healthy eater of crickets, mealworms and collards on occasion. Recently though, he has been eating the soil out of his pathos plant. He hasn't tried the leaves yet but he seems to love the dirt. Is there something wrong with him? Should I remove the plant from his cage? If anyone else has heard of or seen theirs do this, could you respond please? Thanks.
