Green basilisk...he or she?

I used to work at a pet store and some guy brought in a gren basilisk and asked if any of the employees wanted it. He said he didn't know if it was a male or a female. I THINK it may be a male, as a hood is starting to form and its frons are coming in. So...how do I tell the diffeence between male and female?
