I'd recommend taking every biology & chemistry (especially organic chemistry) class you can. And lots of writing classes. Because anything you do with herps you're either goning to be writing scientific papers on for publication or you're going to be writing up grant proposals to try to fund your projects. This is assuming you want to go the biologist/vet route.
the other common route is to become a small business owner and breed & sell them...which I have mixed feeling about personally. but if you want to go that route, still take the biology but add in lots of business & math courses.
