*LOL* EVERYTHING is on ebay. I personally feel that the bio balls should hold more of the good bacteria for the volume then lava rock. I also feel it is cheaper with the price of buying lava rock around here (20.00/rock!!!!). I have both on hand and may do a mix as the lava rock will hold up the container better. The bioballs give a HUGE amount of bacteria space, and allow very good water flow through. If i had my choice i personally would do bio balls (or spheres be what ever the brand is) second choice being biomax ceramic stuff then lava being my third. T his is off my experience running many a filteration system in fresh and salt water tanks iwth all 3
