Pools don't HAVE to have a drain plug....
I use a Water change sytem made called a python...you can also get another version called "Lee's water changer" OR some people have made their own out of garden hose & some special fittings. They're actually for aquariums, which is why I have one, but they work great for herps too.
Or you can get a "pony pump" used for RV's ( $30 or so ) that attaches to garden hose and pumps water out. Works nicely....
