Tadpole help, again!

When i got them yesterday, i had 14, I put them in a mix of dechloranated water and pond water, i had areas where they could climb onto if needed, and put some fish flakes in, yet out of the 14, at least 6 are dead, and more are dieing, i was drastic, and decided to try something, i put 4 in with my FBTs (large tank so the poison may not be as toxic) and i left 4 in to see what happend. But what did I do wrong, i mean it was only one day!
