Hey all, I just got out of a pet shop. There were two people that were in the store that knew the guy that was working the reptile section. They had a water dragon with them that was beat up. Its tail is half dead and it is missing toes. My wife and I overheard them talking. They were gonna let the poor thing go in the store and leave it to die!!! Their first idea was to put it in with the tokay gecko for the tokay to kill it. But that wouldn't have been good because it would have left bits and pieces and they would get bagged. My wife said we would take it, but we have never had a water dragon before. He will be going to the vet on tuesday, the next time he is available but I will try to get in touch with him before that. First off does anyone know if SMZTMP is used to treat water dragon bacterial infections. Want to get him started ASAP he may have an infection we don't know about. We think the missing toes/dead tail may be a result of burns. The girl with it says it is a shedding problem, but my wife and I don't think so. Next what is the general guidelins for keeping these guys (humidity, temps, what do they eat)? We have plenty of other animals but no water dragons. So after spending $900 this weekend on animals I will get to visit the vet to help save this little ones life. I will be calling the store manager tuesday to complain about the staff member. I have sold animals to them before. Some people huh? Well any help will be appreciated.
