I doubt that the guy that sold you the turtle is hanging around on this forum. We don't have any connection to that expo.

If you haven't received any helpful replies by email, then maybe you can tell us what temperature the water is and whether the tank is protected from a lot of traffic. The setup sounds good but it would help to know how warm the temp is (not too warm, I hope) and whether the turtle might be a little stressed if there is a lot of human or pet activity near the tank.

Another possibility is that the turtle came to you already sick or quite stressed. It would be helpful to know whether the eyes are clear and not swollen, and what the turtle's activity is like (alert, swimming energetically, etc.).
