Saturday, Oct. 20, TXPW, in Grand Prairie. Meeting starts at 7pm but members tend to show a little earlier to visit.
Meetings of the DFW Herpetological Society are opportunities for friends to meet, for people to learn about herps and enjoy beautiful photos, and for members to offer captive-bred reptiles or amphibians for sale. Meetings are events where everyone can feel welcome and families can feel comfortable.
We encourage members to arrive at meetings anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes early in order to meet old or new friends and perhaps help get things arranged for the meeting. Our meetings last about an hour and a half, consisting of announcements and any business, followed by a program – usually a talk and slide show. At the end, members may sell captive bred animals and generally we adjourn to a place to eat and talk further.
Except for expo meetings, our meetings have been held at the Texas Parks & Wildlife North Texas Education Center, 5411 Robinson Drive, Grand Prairie, TX. This is how to get there: from I-20, exit on Carrier Parkway and go south to Polo. Turn right on Polo and go to Robinson Dr. Then go south on Robinson Dr. until it dead-ends just past Camp Wisdom Rd. and before the dam at Joe Pool Lake. The Center is on the left at the end of Robinson Dr. You can also use an Internet mapping service such as www.mapquest.com to show you how to get there.
Animals brought to meetings must be in a secure container and are restricted to legally owned, nonvenomous reptiles and amphibians smaller than eight feet in length. Please note that only members can offer something for sale at meetings, and any animals offered for sale must be captive bred.
