This coming Saturday (a week earlier than our usual meeting date, because of Easter), our meeting at UTA will feature Lou Verner talking about Texas' Amphibian Watch program. Lou is an Urban Biologist with TX Parks & Wildlife. Earlier this Saturday, we will co-host (with Ft. Worth Nature Center) the training for volunteers to identify frogs/toads & their calls and report the data. It's good to know that our society has a number of people who are willing to put in the time to help wild populations of herps; the training session has quite a few people registered both from the herp society and from the Cross Timbers chapter of the Master Naturalists.
Back to the herp society meeting - visitors are welcome Saturday at UTA at 7pm (see our website for info). The program that will overview amphibian declines and how the monitoring program may help us keep track of the population status of frogs and toads.
