German fonts on American computer

Hallo, can some one kindly please tell me how to type
the fonts for uppsilon, ah[a-Umlaut],oh[oh-o- Umlaut]
uh [u-Umlaut] and ess-tsett on my American edition
win 98 2nd edition microsoft word programed Dell
computor ? I am trying to learn German and would enjoy very much particapating on this forum in Deutsche, even in a small way.Microsft, Dell and my German teacher could not explain it to me please help.
