He must be a young adult. No massive jowls yet. Give him some freeroaming time. I've found that it helps tremendously with taming. Baths are a good idea and also hand feeding treats if that's possible. I talk to my lizards alot. Also, sometimes putting a worn t-shirt with your smell on it in the enclosure helps. Sounds silly but it does get them used to your scent. Good luck. That's a handsome lad.
