On another lighter note.....due to the fact that i was not in excruciating pain, i was subject to a degree of boredom for a time when i was waiting in the ER treatment room for a hospital bed. there was no tv in the ER and the lack of excruciating pain allowed me the chance to become slightly bored.....if in a similar snakebite situation where left in a room with no TV and no company i would highly suggest the following 2 activities as a time passer:
1) you can draw pictures on the respiration monitor by controlling your breath....you can draw rabbit ears and stairs and city skylines if you practice....you can also hold your breat until resps go under 12 and then the machine starts beeping and flashing but i dont htink the nurses appreciate it when you do that.
2) the metallic taste in your mouth combined with the severe numbness can actually be quite interesting if its not accompanied by the other less benign symptoms. i actually got quite a deal of amusement out of just licking the roof of my mouth for 15 minutes because it felt so weird on my tongue.
i am not advocating getting bitten, but should you find yourself in the situation anyways......sometimes you need activities you brighten your perspective and pass the time.
