I don't for the life of me understand how someone could be so insecure about their own accomplishments that they have to purposefully get into a shredding contest on a public forum just to create an opening to brag about their trivial accomplishments.

I hate to break this to you or anyone else that isn't already aware, but no matter how many degrees we have (herpetological, biological or otherwise)or how much "cool" stuff we've contributed to this field, we're all NERDS or FREAKS in the public eye.

Your best bet, sir, is to join in with positive contributions or
simply follow your own advice and LEARN.

And, to coin a popular phrase around this place,
"That's just my 2 cents".
