All newspaper print is bleached white with Chlorine Bleach. Whether the print is black & white or all color, it's still chlorine bleach + other chemicals. When snake urea / stool sits on it for a while a poisonous gas is released in small quantities.
Unbleached / non-toxic paper is available if you look for it.
