Well, I now know why a wire bookshelf DOESN'T work in a shelf system. I placed a 20gal long housing my adult corn on sturdy wire book/storage shelf. My snake is quite large and I have been really careful removing him from his enclosure for handling so that none of his body (that tail is amazing) could get tangled up in anything nearby. It didn't work last night. He got his head up through the wire and he was off and running. He wove his body through that wire shelf and posts just like an expert weaver. There was NO removing him from his tangled and woven knot. Hmmmmm, now what? He was stressed, no kidding, by all of this and I tried several coaxings to remove him from this state. Finally I got a large box and showed him a little opening and he entered without hesitation. So now I am finally going to get my new commercial rack system. Yeah. He's a lot quicker than I am these things happen to me when I am in a hurry and get just a little careless or distracted. Just thought I'd share a rather frustrating and learning experience from a newbie to the snake world. Wire racks are not convenient, period.
