velcro is a good idea too. I'll have to try that one some time. I kept trying to figure out something other than packing tape! and again my husband came up with the binder clip idea! it's amazing how resourceful you can be when needed! :) I do use rubberbands for hatchlings though. and that's because I house them in the round containers you find them in at the shows or reptile store (at least a larger version of.) I had 2 babies escape out of those last year so I went to rubberbands! thanks for the idea!
:I currently use either rubberbands around the smaller rubber maids, or I make velcro straps for the larger ones. The velcro straps work great for aquariums too, you can make them large enough to go all the way around the aquaruim, sew a ring (Key chain rings work great) on to one end of the strap,(I use the nylon strap like used for dog leads) and velcro to the other end (Don't use sticky velcro, it doesn't hold to the nylon well enough, and gums up your sewing machine if you stitch it ~Which makes the guys at the sewing machine repair place make fun of you when you bring in the machine full of glue!)
:Binder clips would be better than the rubber bands though. Wouldn't have to worry about that one thats gonna snap (One ALWAYS snaps right in your face!)
