In Reply to: E. g. emoryi X amel E.g.guttata help? posted by bigboi on May 02, 2003 at 01:15:29:
A rootbeer corn is pretty much the same thing as a creamsicle only it does not display the amel trait. It is a "normal" or "non morph" e.g. emoryi x e. g. guttata cross. If your creamsicle got it's amelanism from the emoryi side than the two different genes will not be compatable. For example if the grandparents of this snake were an amel emoryi and a normal corn. But that is pretty unlikely since amel emoryi are still not too common in collections. Unlikely but not impossible. Most likely the grand parents were an amel corn and a normal emoryi and the amel genes WILL be compatable. In this case you will get all amels (creamsicles) and no root beers (normals). Don't know if that helps or makes things more confusing.
