I only noticed it this year. My "97 male did it both times he mated. As far as I know (and I was watching), it didn't happen the last 2 years. I'm gonna try this with my 10-month-old amber just to see what happens.
Have you seen this behavior in other ratsnakes?
Could it be for scenting purposes ( ie: do you think there's a reason for it other than just excitement)?
