I have never used calcium sand, but I have not heard good things about it for use with Corn snakes. I currently use an aspen bedding. I have used newspaper in the past, but prefer substrate that my snakes can burrow in.
Yes it is normal for Corn snakes to become inactive while going through a shed cycle.
:hi. i'm a new user to this site and i just got a corn snake about a month ago. i just wanted to know what kinds of substrate people use for their corns and which ones are the best. i'm currently using some calcium sand which is both ingestible and digestible, i just listened to the guy at the pet store. also is it normal for corns to become inactive while shedding? mine has been for the past couple of days and i noticed that his eyes have turned milky which suggests that it's time to shed. your answers will be greatly appreciated. thank you.
