Sceloporus undulatus, easterm fence lizard--not sure which of the numerous subspecies it its, though.

If you're going to keep it for a short period of time, plan on instead keeping it--period. Don't know about Missouri, but in most places, it's illegal to release captives back into the wild. My suggestion is to bone up on it and give it a good captive life.
