Hello. I have my lights come on at 7:30 am and go off at 8:30 pm. She is in my room and it gets a little lighter when the sun comes up before the lights are on, and the sun is almsot setting when the lights go off. If there is other light in the room it will bug him/her. If I have to turn on my light Orion sometimes opens one eye and glares at me, "How dare you!" lol. A dim light a little after lights out probably won't be too bad, as long as it is dark most of the night. You can cover the cage with a light blanket, or if you have the extra cash, get a privacy screen to block it.
Another thing about times... I have 3 lights and a humidifier that go on for the same times. You can get heavy duty timers that cost a bit more than the cheap ones, and they have the 3 sprong outlets suitable for power bars. I wish I got one of them instead... One power bar on a timer would be a lot easier than 3 separate timers! lol
