I don't know if they can swim or not, tho' I doubt it. Why don't you fill it in with soil. The plants will do fine and your pygmies won't drown...just a thought

:i gotta know can pigmy leaf's swim? cause my 55gal tank sounds like it fit's there description of a habitat but about a foot across the middle is a drop off with 7 inch deep water. and i have a pair of split leaf philodendrons grappling each other from opposite sides of the tank making a big jungly bridge across
