I do have to agree about the stress from plexi. Either that or there is something else in the room that is worrying him. Any other animals he can see? This is major stress, more than would be expected from a mature adult and a cage refit. Maybe because he can see out more clearly he is now reacting to something in the room. Personally I think the darker colors in the cage might make his reflection more apparent from inside and under his specific light angles. Hmm, by "Northern" climate where do you mean? I live in Anchorage AK, and use all screen cages. But, I stuff them with live plants, hang plastic sheeting on the cage back and 1-2 sides if needed in winter (it hangs loosely at the bottom so does vent), and use an ultrasonic humidifier aimed at the cage. This is for cool climate montane species who require 70% humidity and up. I can keep my RH levels up OK this way.
