There are definitely some experts out there who say that a chameleon that is eager to climb on his owner's hand isn't being friendly - he's just unhappy with his enclosure. His attempt to get onto the human hand is simply an attempt to escape his undesirable surroundings and get someplace better. This may not be the case in your cage at all...but it's worth thinking about. Keep in mind that it's generally accepted that excessive handling results in a significantly reduced lifespan for most chameleons due to stress. There are always exception to such rules, but it's important not to ignore them.
