Some people just get out of hand, I swear if I didn't live there too my girlfriend would have cats and bunnies running wild all over the place. She keeps begging to get another cat but when we had 3 that was way to much for me in a 1 bedroom apartment. You did the right thing, obviously the friendship wasn't worth keeping if they let it go after something like this.
