The wattage is not the key as there are many other variables to what temp you actually get at any one time. Get a good thermometer (usually a digital one with a remote probe works better than a stick on or a glass tube one) and measure the temp on a perch in the basking spot. If the temp is in the right range for jax (err on the cool side for babies) then the light you are using is OK. You can lower the temp by clipping the light farther from the tank top if you need to.
