A drip system is basically a container with a hose that you can control that drips water slowly. Once a cham gets used to where the water drips, he knows he can go there for water. You need something to catch the water, because most of it will fall to the bottom, in the same spot. Sort of like an eve trough on a house. If you don't catch the water, it will pool, and be a pain to clean, as well as a breeding ground for bacteria.

Also, about misting, small chams can usually get enough drink from the misting. They just lick it off the leaves. Once they are full grown though, this doesn't supply enough water.
