Hi there,

To be honest - this sort of response would deter me from doing business with anyone!

We are breeders (several species of chameleons). We gladly give our phone number(s) before and after the sale, and encourage folks to call us with any questions or concerns about their animals. We do not care how minor the subject.

Also - we make it a rule to sell our young chameleons only after they have reached a minimum age of 12-16 weeks. Sure, we could sell sooner - but we feel it better that we take the risks - and provide the customer with a well started animal. If we wait until they are older, and the new owner has better success with the animal, then we have success too. True, it costs us a lot more to keep them until they are older (we feed 10,000 crickets a week with 3-4 clutches on hand), and with veiled we sometimes barely break even - but the customers and animals win in the end.

Another point: we do not sell siblings when someone wants a "pair". We see ads selling "pairs" and there is only one clutch involved - this invites inbreeding. We firmly discourage this, and try to educate the buyer(s) about the dangers of such practices. We have turned down sales - rather than risk the possibility that someone might breed brother and sister.

Be sure and get some good care sheets too. Don't be afraid to ask questions - "the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask"... and most breeders don't mind answering. :)

Good luck with your future friend..
