For chameleons, they are a no no. For a vivarium with pygmy chams or just about any other type of tropical lizard, they are gold. I made a waterfall and stream in my 85g vivarium this past winter and I am extremely happy with it; well worth the investment. If you are interested in making one for a vivarium, go check out the Arrow Frog Forum on this site, you'll find good advice and be guided towards good links on waterfalls and water features there. They are very interesting and add the best effect, especially if you get an ultrasonic fogger or humidifier which creates the 'mysty' look.
Definately something to look in to.
