Chams are usually fed every day as juveniles, but adults can be fed every other day. It is really hard to say how many crix per day, as this will depend on many things. A younger cham will eat more small crix each day while an adult may eat fewer larger crix. Can't really give you an estimate. Males may eat more or less than a female and vice versa. It will vary by season, age, and breeding state. Actually, the crix are probably not the most expensive part of caring for chams. You'll need good quality UVB lights (ReptiSun 5.0 fluorescent bulbs are the safest and best) that are replaced every 6 months, a screen cage with live plants, probably a humidifier, drip system, pump water sprayer, accurate thermometer and humidity gauges (don't use the cheap small ones at most pet shops as they aren't very reliable), a basking spotlight (regular house light bulbs are fine), fresh gutloads for the crix, etc (go to www.herpnutrition.com for good ones and good nutrition info). It will need other foods besides crix too. Chams will often stop eating if they only get one type of food. To get a good idea of what you'll need for setups and supplies go to these good cham sites for further reading: www.adcham.com, www.calumma.com, www.chameleonjournals.com, www.chameleonnews.com
