Hey Dave -

This is probably too late to be much use, but there is an area I like called the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve. It's right outside of Copeland a little south of Alligator Alley. Don't know exactly what you're looking for. Lots of alligators and cottonmouths. Lots of wildlife too.
