Just wondering it is that we have such a problem getting new speakers. While I really enjoy some of our great regular speakers within the club it would be nice to occasionally get some outsiders to come in for some variety. We have some great reptile people right here in FL...(George VanHorn, Terry Dunham, Kathy Love, Ron St. Pierre, just to name a few)
I've heard from the board that sometimes these speakers want to be compensated. It would be nice if people wanted to do it for the love of the hobby, but would it be such a bad idea (with $70,000 in the bank) to fork out some cash every couple months to fly in some big names ...(Bob Clark, Dr Seward, Robert Applegate, Dave Barker, etc.)
I can't speak for everyone, but I'd be willing to pay higher dues if we could reach outside of the central FL reptile community every once in a while to learn something.
Again, no disrespect is meant to some of our regular speakers who are fantastic. I realize that they are often recruited at the last minute when other speakers back out.
Chris
