On Saturday I passed a van on the side of the road - South Orange Blossom Trail, right near Kissimmee. Apparently the guy was selling turtles, like people are always selling roses and fruit, out of the back of his van. On the side of the van it said "Live Turtles" and "Great Gift!".

Have any of you seen something like this? Is it legal? I really would like to stop this person from selling animals this way, and proclaiming them as a "Great Gift". Turtles are not a "Great Gift". They are animals.

If I found out the guy's license plate number and called Fish & Wildlife, would they do anything about it? Would they check to see if they guy has permits, and shut him down if he doesn't?

I really would like to see an end put to irresponsible herp keeping and selling, and this seems like a prime example.

Keep a lookout for this guy, ok? And if you see him, can you at least tell him to stop advertising turtles as gifts? Thanks guys.
