:Absolutely. Data collection is priority #1. Until we know the size of the gene pool we're working with, not to mention the population growth rate, I don't think we should be producing more hybrids than we already are.
:However, if it turns out that the population of US diamonds is relatively small (probably true) and shrinking (I have no clude), hybridization becomes more of a viable option.
