I saw at a reptile show a cage painted with epoxy paint. I'm sold. That cage finish was awesome. There is nothing better short of just buying a plastic cage. The next wood cage I make or have made, I will finish with epoxy paint. When you see it up close and run your fingers over the finish, you will see that polyurethane pales in comparison. Epoxy is expensive and sticky, meaning harder to brush on I am told. But when it dries, you get a smooth, hard surface that repels water completely. This guy poured water in the cage. I would never do that with melamine or poly-sealed wood. I don't know what brand or where he got it, but it was the BEST finish I've ever seen in a wood cage. It came in colors too. You don't need tile or vinyl floors in the cage if you use this stuff.
