I recently purchased a wire shelf at Menards made by WireTech, I believe (box thown out so I'm not sure).
I don't have anything heavy on it currently but I was very impressed with it's strength as I assembled it.
Dimensions are 48" x 18" x 74".
I was also at Home Depot and saw a welded steel shelf designed for extremely heavy use. I think the shelf was 8' long, though. I did not check to see if they had a smaller version. Regardless, it was on sale for less than $100 and looked to be a very good deal.
Best bet is to go to your local home improvement stores and see what they have for wire and/or welded shelves. Some wire shelves won't hold much weight, but I believe mine are rated at 300 lbs. per shelf.
