In Reply to: Cambro polycarbonate boxes... posted by audri on April 27, 2003 at 00:41:06:

www.usplastics.com They have the Rubbermaid Clear Carb-X container #6581 (26x18x9) for $30.77

This box (the Rubbermaid Carb-X line) are identical to Cambro in size (differ by like 1/8" I think, but essentially the same). I think the Rubbermaids have more of the side frosted than the Cambro. The material is the same. These boxes have about 28 sq in more than a standard Rubbermaid sweater box and are extremely tough. The extra room is a real benefit if keeping Florida or Eastern kings or other larger colubrids.

I use silicon to attach spacers on the 4 corners of the bottom of the box. Then I attach those adhesive floor glides. This allows the box to slide easily in a rack right over the heat pad. You need to clear about 1/4" to do this, because these and Cambro have 1/4" ridges on the bottom of the boxes. I like Chris Harper's idea of putting a strip of sheet metal under the box between the ridges and heating the metal.
