When you hear the term melamine it typically means 3/4" particle board with a thermofused melamine surface attached to both sides.
However, melamine really only refers to the *coating* and has nothing to do with the particle board.
Many years ago the only melamine that Menard's carried was 1/8" hardboard with a melamine coating on one side only. This made for a lot of confused herpers who showed up at Menard's asking for melamine.
Besides the particle and hardboard, melamine is also fused to MDF, plywood, and typical laminate backings. These latter three are hard to find and are typically custom order only.
I thought I should include this in case the original poster was finding something other than 3/4" melamine-coated particle board.
