I have been thinking lately about planting mixes, and the wide diversity of opinions on them. some prefer loose soil-free mixes, others prefer peat/coco fiber based mixes, etc... Anyhow, I think it would be informative if we could all post what mixes we use, how they are used (bogy, well drained, etc...) and what we grow on them, like this:

1 part Bandini Organic fertilizer-free potting soil, 1 part sand, 2 parts coconut bark chips, 1 part cypress mulch (I am no longer using cypress mulch, despites how nice it is, due to its environmental impact). This mix is over a false bottom, separated by cocofiber-mat instead of screen over the egg-crate. In this mix I grow pothos, Hawaiian Schefflera, philodendron, and an Areca Palm with great results.

Please join in,
Jared
