I think I meant to write a thicker layer of silicone, not a thicker layer of glass. Regardless, 1/4" is what I'd got with. Anything thicker will cost a lot more and probably not be necessary.

This will be possible if you have a decent sized flat area on the inside of your stock tank. You'll have to check that for yourself or send me a picture.
