: Hey everyone, sorry for posting so much but i recognized a lot of the names on this forum are vendors advertized for that show. If i manage to make it to texas it will be my first reptile expo, but i was wondering, with it being the off-season right now, are the shows still worth the trip? (i'm up here in kansas)I have a friend that wants a cornsnake and thought about going to the show with me, but will there be any snakes available right now? Thanks again for any help!

Carole,

That show will be a good one to go to, just for the reason that it is captive bred only and not full of imports that have the potential to spread ticks, mites, and other fun things to other's collections.

I know three vendors that will be there. Don Soderberg of South Mountain Reptiles, raises corns and will most likely have some. One of the best in the business. Don Shores has some great kings and milks, and Dave Jaques has, I believe, only 2 Applegate gophers left. I got mine from him years ago, and it rules.

Whether or not it is worth the trip is up to you. I do see what you are saying about it being the off season. Go to the web page about the show and email every vendor and ask them what they will be having. Then, perhaps you can make a decision about whether or not it will be worth the drive. The three guys I mentioned are wonderful and honest breeders and you will receive only top notch animals from them.

I do think that there is or was a show in Kansas City recentl. Go to www.kcherp.com, I believe, and there may be more info.

Hope this helps!

Billy
