:::Heat tape is available from places like beanfarm.com or Big Apple Herp. It has been used for years, mostly by breeders. It is dependable, easy, and cheap.
:::I would switch up your setup. It sounds like the light is on one side and the heat pad on the other. You want heat on only one side, and have the temps cool as they go to the other side.
:::A heat lamp increases the ambient temps, while undertank is great for providing the belly heat.
:::I would purchase a thermostat. You can even buy a cheapy zoo med one that will work and they cost $20-30.
:::Let me know if you have more questions or want more info!
::Helpful link! Thanks!

As usual, RedInTheTail has given us wise and sage advice. I have FIRST hand seen the affect of these pads on HIS snakes, and frankly, since he has such a fantastic collection of quality snakes, it made me cringe. Ever see a REALLY nice snake, with great pattern and color burned? Its no fun. This is just my opinion, but I would look into using something else, its just not worth it. Peopel will say that you can hook them up to a thermostat, but I would hook them up with a round trash can instead, or make coasters out of em', at least no one will get hurt in that endeavour...
