Tracy,

It may be that the rodents you are feeding to your snakes may be:

a) Very old and decaying
b) not thawed out enough
c) both

Think back to when you got the mice. Were they already frozen? If you froze them, how long have they been in the freezer? Was the source for your rodents a very reputable one?

If you need help finding a good source for mice, I know many of use here can recommend some places. I personally have used The Big Cheese Rodent Factory for years and have the highest quality mice delivered to me from them. And their prices rule along with the mice being vacuum packed. The Mouse Factory and Cajun Mice are good as well.

Years ago, I had some health problems with a few snakes and at the time, the mice I was purchasing was or could have been passed to and forth from a few individuals and I wasn't getting the freshest product for my snakes. So, I searched some mouse companies, asked a bunch of questions, and found a great place that I know has healthy rodents. I also use bottled spring or drinking water for my snakes. Tap water may be fine, but I decided to do this and my collection has been the healthiest it has ever been. Good food and water means healthy animals.

Keep this in mind. I hope this helps and post back on anything you find out about the mice.

Take care!
Billy
