:I mention a while back about stillwater hypo x amelanistic and everybody jumped on me like i'm I said something wrong .I geuss when a big breeder doing it it's cool huh. Now look the big boys are cross stillwaters with other than stillwaters WOW . I'm done ranting least for now lol.

Dre',

I seemed to miss all the fun when that argument was going on, but do you mind if I make my comments on it now? Nothing personal to you are anyone else, of course. I put in my first post "these are possible het hypo (with the Stillwater version)." The reason I said it that way is because these guys are het for the Stillwater version of the hypo gene, but are not locality pure Stillwaters. Since the gene pool is so small on the founding Stillwaters at this time, outcrossing HAS to occur or we are going to get some negative effects of inbreeding on a large scale SOON.

If the Stillwater and the old hypo gene turn out to be allelic, then there will only be two possibilities in my mind" "Locality Stillwater Hypos" and "hypo bulls." The "hypo bulls" in that situation would be the same hypo, since they are allelic, regardless of the source in my mind. Until it is proven to be separate allelic mutations resulting in the hypo phenotypes, I do NOT like using the term "Stillwater" in reference to an outcrossed stillwater hypo, BUT we must tag them as being not the old line until we know they are allelic, too. In other words, don't do anything to imply they are locality BUT don't sell them yet without letting people know what they are. That's MY opinion on the matter.

If you outcross a Stillwater hypo and still call it a Stillwater, then that is BAD and dishonest - no questions asked - since Stillwater means locality to almost all herpers. Additionally, if you cross a Stillwater to anything but a bullsnake, then you are a very bad person....lol. ()bviously, I'm against hybrids.)

On a final note, I think I could think of something neater to cross to a hypo than an albino...lol.
