I think kings it's more like 6 feet, not 7. And I know of at least two that don't go over four feet, the mexican black and the black kingsnake. I have a mexican black one and I personally think he's probably the best snake for beginners myself. He's got a great temperment, doesn't bite, doesn't musk. True he hsa never really gotten to actually liking being held either though. He's very forgiving when it comes to the terrarium environment. And he's only four feet (I personally want a bigger snake, I'm excited about getting my new black rat which should be between 5-6 or maybe even more).
